SUSPECTED rocket debris from China has been found on the shores of Barangay Allasitan, Pamplona, Cagayan.
According to Ensign Ericka Faith Coloso of the Philippine Coast Guard Northeastern Luzon, a resident of Barangay Allasitan first spotted the object and shared it on social media.
After the sighting, personnel from Coast Guard Sub-Station Claveria immediately responded to verify the report.
An assessment revealed that the debris is made of metal, colored white and red, approximately 15 feet long, six feet wide, and estimated to weigh 120 kilograms.
Markings of “CHN” were also found on a part of the debris.
The incident is being linked to a rocket launched by China on December 31, 2025.
Records indicate that the designated drop zone for the rocket debris was approximately 63 nautical miles from Sta. Ana, Cagayan.
Due to inclement weather conditions, it is suspected that the debris drifted to the coast of Pamplona.
An examination revealed that it tested negative for radiation and is temporarily under the custody of the Coast Guard Station in Aparri, Cagayan.
