INTERIOR and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla addressed members of the media at the Quezon City Reception House on Monday to denounce a rejected P8-billion rifle deal circulating on social media, which was allegedly a congressional insertion.
Remulla was joined by Philippine National Police (PNP) acting chief PLTGEN Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. and National Police Commission (Napolcom) Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Commissioner Rafael Vicente Calinisan.
During the press briefing, Commissioner Calinisan presented documents, potentially the sources from which signatures and the letter format were lifted to create the fake document circulating online.
The officials aimed to debunk the authenticity of the alleged deal and clarify that it was not a legitimate transaction. The presentation of evidence suggests a coordinated effort to combat misinformation and protect the integrity of the DILG and PNP.
