ASIDE from serving as Assistant Majority Floor Leader, Las Piñas Lone District Rep. Mark Anthony Santos has been designated as vice chairperson of the House Committees on Housing and Urban Development and Labor and Employment.
The Committee on Housing is chaired by Quezon City 6th District Rep. Ma. Victoria Co-Pilar, while the Labor and Employment Committee is headed by Cavite 1st District Rep. Ramon “Jolo” Revilla III.
Santos was also named member of several key panels, including the Committees on Appropriations, Natural Resources, Public Works and Highways, Legislative Franchises, Games and Amusements, Metro Manila Development, Public Information, and five other standing committees.
Nueva Ecija 1st Rep. Mikaela Angela Suansing is the appropriations chairman while the Natural Resources Committee is chaired by Negros Occidental 2nd District Rep. Alfredo Marañon III, and the Public Works and Highways Committee is led by Surigao del Sur 1st District Rep. Romeo Momo Jr.
In the Senate, the Public Works panel is chaired by Sen. Mark Villar, while the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources is headed by his sister, Sen. Camille Villar—both former Las Piñas representatives.
A neophyte lawmaker, Santos ran as an independent candidate in the May 2025 elections for Las Piñas’ at-large district, challenging Sen. Cynthia Villar, whose family has wielded significant political influence in the city for three decades.
Before his congressional win, Santos served seven consecutive terms as Las Piñas City councilor, building a track record focused on community development and transparent governance.
One of his notable achievements includes championing housing programs by urging the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development to launch city-level housing initiatives—underscoring his commitment to easing housing shortages and improving living conditions for Las Piñas residents.
