AT the height of the campaign period of this year’s midterm elections that included sectoral representation in the Lower House of Congress, Ang Bumbero ng Pilipinas (ABP) party-list third nominee Leninsky ‘Bogs’ Bacud was shot dead by unidentified assailants while on his way home from a campaign activity in Sampaloc, Manila.
The assassination happened just two weeks before election day on May 12 and now, after more than four months, police authorities have failed to solve the crime and arrest any suspect connected to the brutal slaying.
Despite this, the ABP believes that there is still a chance to solve the murder case as he is sure there could be witnesses in the ambush who maybe able to pinpoint the whereabouts of the killers or else provide information that could lead to their arrest.
This is now the reason for the cash reward being offered for the apprehension of the ABP party-list nominee’s killers as well as additional information on those others involved in the heinous act of violence against God-fearing, peace loving and dedicated public servants.
“We are offering ₱1 million as cash reward to anyone who can help authorities track down and arrest the two suspects behind the killing of Leninsky ‘Bogs’ Bacud, who was gunned down in broad daylight last April 28 while going home at Guevarra Street in Barangay 435, Sampaloc, Manila,” the party-list announced.
“This wasn’t just a senseless killing, this was a direct attack on someone who gave his life to serving the public. We owe it to Chief Lenin, his family and the public to find those responsible and hold them fully accountable,” the group added.
The suspects have been identified as Arnold ‘Ford’ Glean Umandap and Joshua Hernandez Andaleon. A non-bailable warrant of arrest was issued on July 30 by the Manila Regional Trial Court’s Branch 33. Police are now on an active manhunt and all operations are required to be recorded with body-worn cameras.
Umandap, also known as Ford Glean, is the president of a rival group falsely claiming to represent ABP while Andaleon was allegedly one of the men on the motorcycle during the deadly ambush. Investigators suspect political motives behind Bacud’s assassination.
Umandap’s last known address is 47 Ruiz Street, Manila and Andaleon is said to have left his residence in Pantihan I, Balayungan, Maragondon, Cavite.
“We’re calling on the public—if you’ve seen these men or know anything about others involved, speak up. Your tip could be the key to delivering justice,” the party-list enthused.
Police authorities investigating Bacud’s murder have also appealed to possible witnesses to contact them through the following numbers: PNP Hot line – 117 and
CIDG – 0951-059-3843
“The ₱1 million reward is ready for anyone who can provide verified, actionable information. All reports will be treated with strict confidentiality.
“This is a fight for truth, justice, and for the soul of our movement,” ABP declared. “Let it be known. We will pursue these killers and their cohorts to the ends of the earth. They can hide, but we will not stop until justice is served,” the ABP asserted.
