FOUR Filipino citizens in Israel have been hospitalized following recent airstrikes launched by Iran, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced on Sunday.
DFA Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega reported that the Philippine Embassy in Israel is actively monitoring the condition of the four individuals, who are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Rehovot, approximately 30 minutes from Tel Aviv. Undersecretary de Vega emphasized that while hospitalized, their condition is not considered critical.
The incident comes amidst escalating tensions and military exchanges between Israel and Iran, with both countries engaging in airstrikes over the past several days.
The DFA’s statement highlights the potential risks faced by Filipino citizens residing in or traveling through conflict zones.
The Philippine Embassy in Israel is working diligently to provide necessary consular assistance and support to affected Filipinos, ensuring their safety and well-being. Further updates on the condition of the hospitalized individuals are expected as the embassy continues its assessment.
The DFA’s response underscores the government’s commitment to protecting the welfare of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and citizens abroad, particularly in regions experiencing heightened geopolitical instability.
The embassy is likely coordinating with local authorities in Israel to ensure the Filipinos receive appropriate medical care and support. The situation remains fluid, and the DFA is expected to release further statements as more information becomes available.
