Shear line, monsoon affects parts of PH

admin January 13, 2022

THE eastern part of Mindanao and northern monsoon will experience rains while Luzon and Visayas will experience scattered rain showers due to shear line, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The weather bureau, in its 4 a.m. weather forecast on Thursday, said scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and Davao Region. For the rest of Mindanao, isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms are likely.

Flash floods or landslides are possible during moderate to heavy rains, and during severe thunderstorms, the Pagasa said.

The northeast monsoon will cause light rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Aurora, Quezon, Camarines provinces, and Catanduanes.

Likewise, it will bring isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and the Visayas.

Meanwhile, Sam Duran of Pagasa said there is no weather disturbance inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Puerto Princesa City will have a temperature of up to 32 °C, the Kalayaan Islands up to 31 °C, and Metro Manila up to 29 °C.

Zamboanga’s temperature is up to 34 °C, Davao up to 32 °C, Iloilo up to 31 °C, while Tacloban and Cagayan de Oro’s temperature is up to 29 °C.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over the entire archipelago.

Because of the northeast monsoon, moderate to gale-force winds will be experienced over the western seaboard of Northern Luzon, the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon, the eastern seaboard of Central Luzon, and the eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon.

Gale warning is also in effect over the eastern seaboard of the Visayas, and the eastern seaboard of Mindanao.

Pagasa advised fishing boats and other small seacrafts not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.
