Cagayan de Oro City – The National Irrigation Administration in Northern Mindanao (NIA-10) is under increased scrutiny following the murder of a former employee, Niruh Kyle Antatico, and subsequent allegations of corruption within the agency. Antatico, who previously worked as a senior legal researcher, was shot dead on Friday, October 10, in Patag village by unidentified assailants.
In response to the tragedy and the swirling accusations, NIA-10 issued a statement on Saturday, October 11, expressing condolences to Antatico’s family. The agency acknowledged the public’s concerns raised on social media regarding potential irregularities in NIA-10 projects.
“We are taking these issues very seriously,” the statement read. “Our top management has initiated a comprehensive review and verification process, working closely with relevant offices and authorities to ensure a thorough investigation.”
NIA-10 emphasized its commitment to transparency and accountability, asserting that it “does not tolerate any form of irregularity in the implementation of its programs and projects.” The agency also urged the public to refrain from speculation and allow the ongoing investigation to proceed.
Authorities are currently investigating Antatico’s murder, with the possible link to corruption exposés being one of the angles explored. The NIA-10 has pledged its full cooperation with law enforcement to bring the perpetrators to justice and to address any potential wrongdoing within the agency.
The incident has cast a shadow over NIA-10’s operations, prompting calls for greater oversight and transparency in the management of irrigation funds in the region.
