JOINT law enforcement operatives confiscated approximately 89 kilograms of suspected high‑grade marijuana valued at an estimated ₱106.8 million from a sailing yacht docked at the Subic Bay Yacht Club in Zambales on September 2, 2026.
The seizure followed a tip‑off received the previous day, when mechanics working on the vessel’s generator and engine stumbled upon a hidden stash of suspected illegal substances concealed aboard the craft.
Acting on the information, a coordinated team composed of personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and Bureau of Customs (BOC) boarded and inspected the yacht at around 7:00 p.m. on September 2. The operation confirmed the presence of the contraband, which was immediately secured and transported to the Subic Bay Yacht Club boathouse for proper inventory and documentation.
On September 3, the confiscated drugs were formally turned over to the PDEA for safekeeping, further laboratory analysis, and the filing of appropriate legal cases.
PCG personnel provided security escorts throughout the transfer to ensure the integrity of the evidence. Authorities are now conducting follow‑up investigations to identify the vessel’s owners, crew, and any individuals behind the smuggling attempt.
