THE Batangas City Integrated High School (BCIHS) has suspended all classes and on-site activities starting Monday, June 29, following a reported shooting threat.
The school administration announced that operations will remain halted until further notice as a safety precaution to protect students, teachers, staff, parents, and everyone in the school community. It also urged the public to avoid entering or going near the school premises while the suspension is in effect.
The threat was received through the school’s official Facebook page, according to Police Lieutenant Sharen Ama of the Batangas City Police Public Information Office.
The message, sent from a dummy account, claimed to be from a Grade 10 student who identified himself as a victim of bullying, and stated that learners from Grade 7 to Grade 10 would be targeted. This development comes just days after a tragic school shooting incident in Tacloban City that resulted in three fatalities and several injuries, raising concerns over campus safety across the country.
Authorities have launched a full investigation to verify the threat’s credibility and trace the source of the message. The school administration confirmed it is closely coordinating with local law enforcement, while police officials have already met with the school principal to discuss security measures and next steps. Both the school and the police have assured the public that all necessary actions are being taken to ensure the safety of everyone and to resolve the matter promptly.
