TWO women have been arrested for allegedly managing and operating a beauty clinic without the necessary government permits and professional licenses, according to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Thursday.
The suspects were apprehended during an entrapment operation conducted last April 22 at their facility located in Barangay District 1, Cauayan City, Isabela. The action follows complaints from clients who grew suspicious that the individuals performing medical-grade cosmetic procedures were not qualified or authorized to do so.
CIDG spokesperson Major Helen dela Cruz disclosed details of the operation during a briefing at Camp Crame, explaining that the suspects were caught red-handed administering injections of botox and glutathione to a poseur-client deployed by authorities.
During the operation, the two failed to present any license or legal authority to perform such procedures, and records confirmed that neither had been issued a valid certificate of registration by the Board of Medical Examiners. Investigation revealed that the pair had been running the establishment for approximately two years, charging ₱3,500 per session for botox treatments and ₱15,000 for glutathione injections, services that are strictly regulated and should only be performed by trained and certified medical professionals.
Authorities seized several items from the premises, including vials of clostridium botulinum toxin type A, bottles of Aqua Skin Puregold EGK Ultra, syringes, scalp vein sets, saline solution, and various other medical paraphernalia. The recovered substances have been turned over to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for testing, with officials suspecting that the products may be adulterated or do not meet safety standards. The suspects are currently under the custody of local police and are facing charges for violations of Republic Act No. 2382 or the Medical Act of 1959, and Republic Act No. 9711 or the Food and Drug Administration Act, which regulate health services and products to ensure public safety and welfare.
