The suspect has been identified as Police Staff Sergeant Enrique Gonzalodo Jr., an active police officer assigned to Police Station 5 of the Bacolod City Police Office.
Bacolod City, Philippines – Police Brigadier General Arnold Thomas Ibay, Director of the Police Regional Office – Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), has confirmed that an active police officer from the Bacolod City Police Office is responsible for the death of Kristine Joy Dignadice, 43 years old.
The suspect has been identified as Police Staff Sergeant Enrique Gonzalodo Jr., an active police officer assigned to Police Station 5 of the Bacolod City Police Office. According to Police BGen. Ibay, Gonzalodo voluntarily surrendered to him and pointed out the location where he killed and disposed of the victim’s body. The remains of Kristine Joy Dignadice were found around 10:50 AM in Hacienda Wiver, Barangay Jorge L. Araneta, Bago City.
Four days prior to the discovery of the body, Dignadice’s vehicle was found inside a compound in Sitio So-ol, Barangay Gargato, Hinigaran, with traces of blood found on the driver and passenger seats. While it was initially unconfirmed whether the victim was Dignadice, Gen. Ibay has confirmed that the deceased was a woman and has now been identified as Kristine Joy.
Ibay added that the victim’s body was not buried but rather dragged into the compound to be hidden in the Central Ma-ao area, Barangay Don Jorge Araneta, Bago City. Initial investigations suggest that the suspect and the victim may have had a relationship, but authorities are still investigating the true motive and the manner in which Dignadice was killed.
Gen. Ibay stated that after the suspect felt the investigation closing in on him, he voluntarily surrendered and provided his extra-judicial confession. The Bago City Police Station is expected to file m*rder charges against PSSg. Gonzalodo.
