TROPICAL Storm Tino (international name Kalmaegi) has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility and was named “Tino,” according to the latest bulletin issued by PAGASA at 11:00 AM today, November 2, 2025. Signal No. 1 has been raised in Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, and Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands.
As of 10:00 AM, the center of Tropical Storm Tino was estimated to be 955 km East of Eastern Visayas (11.1°N, 134.5°E). The storm is packing maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h near the center, with gustiness of up to 105 km/h and a central pressure of 994 hPa. It is moving westward at 30 km/h. Strong to gale-force winds extend outwards up to 240 km from the center.
PAGASA has warned of heavy rainfall and potential coastal flooding due to storm surge in low-lying and coastal localities in Visayas and several portions of Southern Luzon and Mindanao. A Storm Surge Warning will be issued within the day. Gale Warning may be raised over the eastern seaboard of Eastern Visayas and Caraga Region tonight or tomorrow morning in anticipation of very rough sea conditions.
Tino is forecast to move generally westward over the next three days and make its initial landfall over Eastern Samar or Dinagat Islands tomorrow evening or on Tuesday early morning. It is expected to traverse Visayas and northern Palawan before emerging over the West Philippine Sea on Wednesday morning or afternoon. The storm is forecast to continuously intensify and may reach typhoon category within the next 24 hours. Rapid intensification within the next 48 hours is likely, and the possibility of reaching super typhoon category is not ruled out.
The public and disaster risk reduction and management offices are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified as highly or very highly susceptible to hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials.
