COMMUTER trail service between Valenzuela City and Malolos, Bulacan is set to launch partial operations in December 2027 under the updated implementation schedule for the North–South Commuter Railway (NSCR).
The revised timeline was formally approved by the Economy and Development Council, marking a key milestone in one of the country’s largest and most anticipated infrastructure projects. The new target reflects adjustments to construction and delivery schedules aimed at ensuring safety, quality, and seamless system integration.
The initial Valenzuela–Malolos segment represents the first phase of the broader NSCR network, which will eventually connect Metro Manila with provinces north and south of the capital. Once fully operational, the line is expected to significantly cut travel times, ease congestion on major thoroughfares, and provide commuters with a faster, more reliable alternative to road transport. The project forms a central part of the government’s push to modernize the country’s railway systems and boost regional economic connectivity.
Further sections of the NSCR will be rolled out in phases following the Valenzuela–Malolos launch, with subsequent extensions linking to downtown Manila and points south scheduled for completion in later years. Officials emphasized that the revised timeline balances urgency with practicality, allowing engineers and contractors to meet rigorous standards while keeping the project on track.
