JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla believes that Shiela Guo, reportedly the sister of ousted Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo, cannot be a state witness because she is allegedly not credible.
“She’s not reliable,” Remulla said in an ambush interview after the budget hearing at the Senate.
“The problem lies in the reliability of what she’s saying. She is not a reliable witness so far. It really needs to be proven that her testimony is absolutely necessary for everything to happen,” Remulla said.
Last week, the National Bureau of Investigation stated that Shiela, whose name is Zhang Mier, is a Chinese citizen who obtained a Philippine passport illegally.
During the Senate hearing on Tuesday, Guo admitted that she was not born in the Philippines but in China and only arrived in the country in 2001, brought by her uncle to help with his business.Guo denied knowing about the POGO operation in Bamban and the whereabouts of her sister.
Remulla believes that Shiela is attempting to divert the authorities.
“It seems like that, it seems like that. She has a lot of ‘I don’t know, I don’t know.’ Well, I find it hard to believe that she doesn’t know because she has been in the Philippines for a long time. She can read road signs to know where they are,” Remulla added.
