FILIPINOS seeking overseas employment are presented with a significant opportunity: over 3,000 job openings across various sectors in the Czech Republic.
The Czech Embassy in the Philippines has announced the availability of these positions, particularly targeting individuals with at least one year of experience in food manufacturing, transportation, construction, logistics, hospitality, and support services.
Czech Ambassador to the Philippines, Karl Hejc, highlighted the high demand for Filipino workers, stating that “Czechs very quickly realized how skilled the Filipinos are. They speak English, so there is no communication barrier. They are very adaptable, so they can easily learn new skills.” He further indicated an ideal target of over 10,000 job placements annually.
The potential for significant financial gain is a key draw. Applicants can expect minimum monthly salaries of 6,000 euros (approximately P370,000), excluding bonuses, depending on the profession.
However, licensed recruitment agencies warn that the entire process, from application to departure, could take up to six months due to document processing. Ambassador Hejc assures that efforts are underway to streamline and expedite this process.
Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) suggested further improvements by transitioning to electronic document submission, stating, “At least we’ve mentioned to the President, is to unify the OEC (Overseas Employment Certificate) and the e-travel.” This digitalization initiative aims to reduce processing times and bureaucratic hurdles.
Importantly, there are no placement fees associated with applying for these jobs. This makes the Czech Republic a potentially lucrative and accessible destination for Filipino workers seeking better opportunities abroad. The DMW and the Czech Embassy are actively collaborating to ensure a smooth and transparent application process for interested applicants.
