SENATOR Erwin Tulfo will serve as the acting chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, according to Senate President Tito Sotto. This appointment comes after five other senators who were being considered for the position declined the opportunity.
The decision to appoint Tulfo follows the resignation of Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson from his role as Blue Ribbon chair. Lacson’s resignation prompted a search for a new leader to head the powerful committee, which is responsible for investigating allegations of corruption and government misconduct.
With the other potential candidates declining, Senator Tulfo has been tapped to take on the responsibility of leading the Blue Ribbon Committee in an acting capacity. It remains to be seen whether he will eventually be appointed as the permanent chair, or if the Senate will continue to explore other options for the position.
