MULTIPLE tax evasion cases have been filed against Curlee and Sarah Discaya, along with a corporate officer of St. Gerrard Construction.
Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. submitted the documents to the Department of Justice (DOJ) this morning for the filing of the multiple tax evasion cases against the couple and the corporate officer.
According to Lumagui, the Discayas’ total tax liability amounts to ₱7.1 billion, including unpaid income tax from 2018 to 2021, excise tax for nine luxury vehicles, and documentary stamp tax related to their alleged divestment from four construction firms.
The BIR also stated that there is no record of the couple paying documentary stamp tax, suggesting that they did not genuinely divest from these companies.
The BIR’s audit is ongoing, and more cases could potentially be filed against the Discaya couple and other contractors involved in the alleged anomalous flood control projects.
Lumagui assured that the Discaya couple and other officials of their companies can be imprisoned for violating the country’s tax laws.
