AT least 1,000 ranking officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) will resign following the call of Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr.
The call was after the alleged discovery of the extent of how narcotics have “infected” the police force.
Police Col. Rederico Maranan, PNP PIO chief, said that a total of 956 ranking officers will submit their courtesy resignations — a police general, 812 colonels, 8 lieutenant generals, 21 major generals, and 114 brigadier generals.
Maranan, himself a police colonel, had said that they will comply with the request of Secretary Abalos.
