Romualdez denies wrongdoing, trusts in due process amid Co allegations

admin November 15, 2025

FORMER speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez has issued a statement denying any wrongdoing in connection with the ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities in flood control projects and the national budget. Romualdez’s statement comes in response to recent allegations made by former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co, who has implicated Romualdez and President Marcos in the controversy.

Romualdez asserted that his conscience remains clear and that throughout the inquiries, no public official, contractor, or witness has presented evidence of any wrongdoing on his part. He stated that he does not wish to comment on the specific statements and allegations made by Co, arguing that they were not made under oath and therefore lack legal standing.

The former speaker expressed his continued trust in the Investigating Committee, (ICI), the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Ombudsman to fairly evaluate all statements and allegations based strictly on evidence. He emphasized the importance of relying on established legal processes and institutions to determine the truth.

Romualdez reiterated his willingness to cooperate with any lawful process and expressed confidence that the truth will ultimately emerge through the proper channels. He suggested that relying on due process and established legal procedures is the most reliable way to uncover the facts and ensure a just outcome.

By issuing this statement, Romualdez aims to defend his reputation and reassure the public that he is committed to transparency and accountability. He hopes that the ongoing investigations will be conducted fairly and impartially, and that the truth will be revealed through the proper legal channels.
