House, hospital arrest for Quiboloy, legal team insists

admin September 26, 2024

THE legal team of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ led by Apollo Quiboloy is pushing for house or hospital arrest while the Pasig Regional Trial Court prepares a qualified human trafficking case against him.

“It’s pending now, we are pursuing it. And as a matter of fact, we will be filing a supplemental motion to that effect to show that there is an urgent need for him to be, either in a hospital arrest or in a house arrest.”

The lawyer stated that Quiboloy has a doctor who examines him daily, adding that the controversial pastor “hopes that the trials will end so he can regain his freedom.”

Torreon refused to provide details on Quiboloy’s medical condition.

The parties are in the process of preparing for the trial, where the legal team of KOJC and the prosecution attended a pre-conference and pre-marking session at Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 159 last Wednesday.

“On the part of the prosecution, they marked their exhibits. On the part of the accused, we also marked the exhibits. It just so happens that we have voluminous exhibits, so we ended up to Exhibit 13 and we still have to mark other exhibits,” said Torreon.

The pre-trial remains scheduled for October 17. Quiboloy, currently detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) custodial facility in Camp Crame, attended the hearing via videoconference.

Torreon stated that the pastor does not need to be physically present for the trials.

Also on Thursday, the pre-marking of evidence for Quiboloy’s sexual abuse case was set at Quezon City RTC Branch 106.

Quiboloy and his co-accused entered a “not guilty” plea during their arraignment on September 13.
