A PURPORTED Pulse Asia survey showing the Duterte family leading in upcoming elections has been vehemently denied by the research firm itself.
The survey, which circulated widely on social media, particularly on the Facebook page of Maisug Mindanao, claimed to have been conducted between April 26th and May 6th.
It purportedly showed former President Rodrigo Duterte with a commanding 55% lead over his mayoral opponent, Karlo Nograles, and similar advantages for other Duterte family members seeking office.
Several local newspapers initially reported on the survey’s findings. However, Pulse Asia Research Inc.
President Ronald Holmes issued a strong statement categorically denying any involvement in the survey’s creation or dissemination. Holmes emphasized Pulse Asia’s long-standing commitment to the highest professional standards in its research and denounced the unauthorized use of its name to spread false information.
The fake survey raises concerns about the spread of misinformation during the election period. The deliberate fabrication and dissemination of such data could potentially influence public opinion and undermine the integrity of the electoral process.
Authorities are yet to comment on whether an investigation into the origin and distribution of the fraudulent survey will be launched. The incident underscores the importance of verifying the sources of election-related information and the need for increased media literacy among voters.
