DR.. Willie Ong, a popular doctor and vlogger, has withdrawn his candidacy for the 2025 Senate elections due to his ongoing battle with cancer.
Ong announced his decision on Facebook, citing the need to prioritize his health. “I am officially withdrawing my candidacy for the 2025 elections so I can focus more on taking care of my health,” he wrote to his 17 million followers.
Ong, who revealed his cancer diagnosis in September, expressed gratitude for the support he received and pledged to continue his advocacy for good governance and helping Filipinos.
His wife, Liza, and his political party, Aksyon Demokratiko, confirmed his withdrawal. The party-list group Heal PH, which Ong has endorsed, stated that he will continue to support their campaign.
