Rep. Leila de Lima
REPRESENTATIVE Leila M. de Lima of the Mamangmayang Liberal (ML) Partylist today criticized President Marcos Jr.’s release of the top 15 flood control contractors as insufficient.
While acknowledging the President’s announcement of a website for reporting and the role of investigative journalists, De Lima stressed that the list, representing only 20% of flood control projects over the past three years, is merely a starting point.
She argued that the President has the resources to fully investigate and prosecute those involved in anomalous projects, demanding a more comprehensive and decisive response.
De Lima emphasized that true accountability is measured not in press releases or incomplete lists, but in prosecutions.
She called for a thorough investigation without protecting any individuals involved in corruption or negligence that jeopardized the lives of Filipinos.
“Those who profited from and turned government projects into rackets, especially those who endangered the lives of many Filipinos, should not only be reported and listed, but held fully accountable for their actions,” she stated.
