GROUPS that have recently united to thwart the presidential bid of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. trooped to the Comelec on Tuesday demanding the immediate resolution of petitions to cancel his Certificate of Candidacy (CoC).
Members of Kontra TaMaD (Kontra Tambalang Marcos at Duterte), CARMMA-QC, SANLAKAS and Bayan-NCR denounced the poll commissioners for “dragging their feet” despite the “patently illegal and immoral” bid of the dictator’s son.
Marcos, Jr. was convicted of tax evasion 26 years ago, disqualifying him to run for any public office.
The groups also said that delay in resolving the status of Marcos’ candidacy reflects upon the Commission’s integrity and ability to conduct honest and fair elections and has the tendency of confusing voters. Comelec earlier announced that the final list of candidates for the 2022 elections will be announced mid-December and the printing of ballots conducted next year, from January 12 to April 25.
With this, the demonstrators likewise asked the Commissioners to exclude Marcos’ name in the 2022 poll ballot.
