EXECUTIVE Secretary Lucas Bersamin announced a significant Cabinet reshuffle today, following President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s request for courtesy resignations from government officials.
The changes reflect the President’s ongoing efforts to recalibrate his administration.
Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla will assume the role of Secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), replacing Ma. Antonia Yulo Loyzaga. Former congresswoman Sharon Garin will temporarily lead the Department of Energy (DOE).
Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Acuzar has been appointed as Presidential Adviser for Pasig River Development. Replacing outgoing Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo, who is set to transition to a role at the United Nations, will be Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Tess Lazaro. Lazaro’s appointment is effective July 31.
Executive Secretary Bersamin also confirmed that President Marcos did not accept his own courtesy resignation. The announced changes represent a significant shift within the Marcos administration, signaling a renewed focus on key policy areas.
