A MAN has been arrested for illegally recruiting applicants for the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in exchange for money.
The PCG announced that an entrapment operation was conducted on May 22 in Sampaloc, Manila, following complaints from three PCG applicants.
The suspect, identified as Morris Javier Ladjaanang, is a former Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agent currently facing charges of qualified estafa and usurpation of authority. He allegedly promised the applicants guaranteed entry into the PCG in exchange for ₱350,000 per applicant.
According to PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gavan, the Coast Guard continues to closely coordinate with the Philippine National Police (PNP) to ensure a clean and orderly nationwide recruitment process.
