ILOILO City Representative Julienne “Jam” Baronda has commended the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for taking action against those allegedly involved in irregularities concerning the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program in Iloilo City.
In a press statement released today, Rep. Baronda expressed her support for the DSWD, led by Secretary Rex Gatchalian, in filing administrative charges against those believed to be responsible for the injustice against AICS beneficiaries. She emphasized that those responsible should also be held criminally liable, along with the mastermind or masterminds behind the scheme.
“The DSWD has our full support in ensuring that these perpetrators – including the masterminds and their co-conspirators – are held accountable,” Rep. Baronda stated. She also suggested that the DSWD investigate similar incidents that may have occurred in 2024.
Rep. Baronda urged those who were victimized by the scheme, as well as residents whose names were used to claim AICS funds without their knowledge, to come forward and file their complaints at the DSWD Regional Field Office-6.
“To the victims, we stand firmly behind you. Do not be afraid. Remain steadfast,” she added, offering reassurance and encouragement to those affected by the alleged irregularities.
The AICS program is a DSWD initiative that provides financial assistance to individuals and families facing crisis situations. The alleged irregularities in Iloilo City have raised concerns about the integrity of the program and the need for greater oversight to prevent future incidents.
