THE Philippine National Police (PNP) reported on Monday, November 10, that 26 police stations and headquarters sustained damage due to the onslaught of Typhoon Uwan.
At a press briefing in Camp Crame, PNP public information chief Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño said the following municipal police stations were affected:
- Cagayan Valley Region: Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya
- Western Visayas: Libertad, Antique
- Eastern Visayas: Saint Bernard, Leyte; Anahawan, Leyte; San Francisco, Leyte; Mercedes, Eastern Samar; Arteche, Eastern Samar; Oras, Eastern Samar; San Policarpio, Eastern Samar; Dolores, Eastern Samar; Balangiga, Eastern Samar; Maslog, Eastern Samar
The 11th municipal police station in Eastern Visayas was also damaged.
Similarly, two regional headquarters and 11 police stations in the Bicol Region were also affected, although a full report has not yet been received.
According to Tuano, the affected police stations sustained damage to roofs, gutters, and windows.
“Still, the police there are operational… The damage is rather minor, if we could say so, not that heavy. Even if there was damage, our police are still there,” said PNP community relations deputy director Brig. Gen. Vina Guzman.
Meanwhile, 27 uniformed and one non-uniformed personnel of the PNP were affected by the typhoon after their homes were damaged. Affected individuals can seek assistance from the PNP.
