Rep. Teves
FORMER Negros Oriental Congressman Arnolfo Teves Jr. is scheduled to be discharged from the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) before noon on Tuesday and returned to the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), according to his lawyer, Ferdinand Topacio.
Teves, who underwent emergency appendectomy on June 18, has been under hospital care for nearly two weeks. While he continues to experience some abdominal pain, medical professionals have cleared him for discharge. Topacio stated that Teves welcomes his return to his cell at BJMP Annex 2, viewing it as a means to silence critics.
Despite his release from PGH, Teves will remain under medical observation at the BJMP facility.
He was initially admitted to another government hospital where he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis before being transferred to PGH for surgery.
Topacio expressed gratitude to the medical team for their care and to those who offered support during Teves’s confinement. The former congressman’s return to BJMP custody marks the next phase in his legal proceedings, following his ongoing detention in connection with various charges.
