Quezon City suspends classes, gov’t  work for INC rally

Metrosundaily January 11, 2025

THE Quezon City government has announced the suspension of face-to-face classes from public daycare to senior high school, including Alternative Learning Systems (ALS), on Monday, January 13, for the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) peace rally.

The local government has also declared a suspension of work in government offices, except for health services, disaster response, law and order, and essential city services.

“This is in solidarity with the National Rally for Peace led by the Iglesia ni Cristo, whose main church, Templo Central, and most members are in Quezon City,” the statement said.

According to Quezon City, public schools are expected to continue school work through alternative delivery systems.

“Private schools and private companies are left to decide on the suspension of their operations,” the statement added.

Malacañang previously declared the suspension of government offices and classes at all levels in Pasay and Manila on January 13.

Memorandum Circular No. 76, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, stated that the suspension was implemented due to the expected large number of participants in the “National Rally for Peace.”

The suspension of classes applies to both private and public schools, according to the Office of the Executive Secretary.

On December 4, the religious group announced that they would hold a rally to express their support for President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s stand against impeachment moves.
