A DEVASTATING fire ripped through a three-story rental house in Barangay San Isidro, Quezon City early Thursday morning, claiming the lives of eight people, including three minors aged two, 12 and 15.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported that the fire reached the first alarm at 2:02 a.m., prompting a swift response of 24 fire trucks and three ambulances.
According to GMA Integrated News’ James Agustin, reporting on Unang Balita, residents described a terrifying scene, recounting their desperate escape by climbing across rooftops as the blaze rapidly engulfed the building. The intensity of the fire upon awakening left many with little time to react.
Tragically, two bodies were discovered on the first floor near the stairs. The identities of all eight victims remain unknown at this time. One additional person sustained injuries during the incident. The fire was declared extinguished at 2:48 a.m., leaving behind an estimated ₱3,600,000 in damages.
The BFP has yet to determine the cause of the fire, and the number of residents affected remains undisclosed. Investigations are underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
