THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) is investigating the death of freelance model Gina Lima, who was declared dead on arrival after being rushed to the Quezon City General Hospital by her ex-boyfriend.
Lima and her ex-boyfriend had been together on November 15, drinking at her condo, before going to his home on November 16. According to CIDU-QCPD Chief PLtCol. Edison Ouano, the ex-boyfriend said they went to sleep around noon, and when he woke up around 8 p.m., he found Lima unresponsive. He then called his father, and they rushed her to the hospital.
While the initial medical report listed cardio-respiratory distress as the cause of death, claims circulated online that Lima was allegedly beaten by her ex-boyfriend. However, police say early findings do not support this angle, noting that there was no sign of a commotion and the room was organized. Police also examined Lima’s neck and face for signs of strangulation but found none.
Police are also investigating the presence of tablets and suspected kush found at the scene, pending laboratory results. The ex-boyfriend’s father is reportedly confident his son will be cleared. CIDU is awaiting the official autopsy results to determine Lima’s cause of death.
