MANILA police on Tuesday arrested three persons who were implicated in the death of a woman after her remains were found in a balikbayan box in Tondo, Manila.
Law enforcers arrested a delivery rider who was seen in CCTV footage leaving behind the box with the woman’s remains at Brgy. 109, Tondo, Manila, based on a report from the Manila Police District (MPD).
Police later arrested another two men, whom the rider said were the people who ordered him to dump the box.
The suspects denied involvement in the woman’s death.
Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the incident, but the suspects allegedly used illegal drugs, said the MPD District Director P/Col. Arnold Thomas Ibay.
“Allegedly ‘yung suspects eh mga users. Kaya tinitignan natin kung may koneksyon sa illegal drugs kaya nauwi sa pagkamatay at pagtapon sa bangkay ng babaeng ito,” Ibay said.
The victim, whose body was covered by packaging tape when she was found by a local on April 6, was identified as a 32-year-old female resident in Santa Cruz, Manila.
The victim did not show signs of injury, said Raxabago-Tondo Police Station Commander, PLtCol. Melvin Florida. Authorities are still investigating the cause of her death.
