A FILIPINA believed to be a trafficking victim was intercepted by Immigraiton personal after she presented a fake Belgian passport that she bought from TikTok.
The Filipina tried to leave for Ercan, Cyprus via a Kuwait Airlines flight.
She told immigration personnel that she was transiting from Kuwait to Izmar, Turkey.
Immigration personnel intercepted her after they saw numerous inconsistencies in her passport and supposed arrival stamps.
They then referred her to the Duty Immigration Supervisor, who subjected her documents to forensic screening.
This confirmed that Josephine’s passport, residence card, and immigration stamps were counterfeit, the BI said.
Josephine initially insisted that she was Belgian. Immigration personnel were about to arrest her for being an illegal alien when she admitted that she has a Philippine passport.
She also said she used to work in Israel and was deported for working without a visa.
She said she got the Belgian passport after she came across a TikTok video offering passports to European Union countries. She paid P700,000 for her fake documents.
She also said she was promised a job in Greece as a caregiver with a salary of P180,000 per month.
The BI turned over Josephine to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking for assistance and filing of appropriate charges against her recruiter.
