AUTHORITIES confiscated approximately P278 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested two Chinese nationals during a buy-bust operation, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) announced on Wednesday, April 22.
The operation was conducted on Tuesday night along Andrade Street in Barangay Balingasa, where agents recovered around 41 kilograms of illegal drugs concealed inside paper bags and boxes.
Identified only by their aliases “Aye” and “Mok,” the suspects are both residents of General Trias, Cavite. Aside from the large volume of drugs, authorities also seized a Toyota Fortuner vehicle, Hong Kong passports, international driving permits, mobile phones, and the marked money used in the transaction. The two suspects are now facing charges for the possession and sale of illegal substances in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani R. Nerez emphasized that this successful operation demonstrates the agency’s firm commitment to dismantling drug networks that endanger communities. “This successful operation underscores our unwavering commitment to dismantle drug networks that threaten our communities. The seizure of nearly ₱300 million worth of shabu is a major blow to illegal drug syndicates operating in the country,” he said.
Nerez further stated that the government remains steadfast in preventing the country from being exploited by criminal organizations. “We will not allow the Philippines to be used as a transshipment hub or market for illegal drugs,” he added, ensuring that law enforcement will continue to conduct strict operations to curb the flow of illegal substances.
