THE Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has committed to fully turning over the CCTV surveillance system at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) by the end of November 2026 — just hours after Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon publicly criticized airport officials for dragging their feet on the transfer.
Dizon had issued a stern warning, giving them until November to complete the handover or face disciplinary action, making the security system turnover a make‑or‑break deadline for the current airport leadership.
The transfer of the CCTV network is a key milestone in the broader modernization and management transition of the country’s main gateway. NNIC, which has taken over the operations and maintenance of NAIA, requires full access to the surveillance system to ensure comprehensive security monitoring, streamline passenger safety protocols, and integrate the network with upgraded digital platforms. The delay had raised concerns about coordination gaps and potential vulnerabilities in airport security oversight.
MIAA’s assurance signals a resolution to the impasse, with the agency now set to accelerate the handover process and ensure all technical and administrative requirements are fulfilled within the month. The DOTr has emphasized that accountability remains a priority, and while the commitment has been secured, officials will closely monitor progress to guarantee that the turnover is both timely and complete. Further updates will be provided as the transfer proceeds.
