THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced that the number coding scheme will be suspended on Monday, November 2, in observance of All Souls’ Day, which has been declared a special non-working holiday.
The MMDA noted that the suspension follows standard policy: “The number coding scheme is automatically suspended during regular and special non-working holidays.” This means motorists will not be restricted by their license plate endings on that day, giving greater flexibility to those traveling to visit cemeteries or spend time with family.
As the Undas period approaches, the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) is preparing for a significant surge in passenger volume, with an estimated 1.9 million people expected to pass through the facility during the holiday break. The terminal is ramping up preparations to accommodate the heavy volume of commuters heading to provinces across Luzon and beyond.
Many travelers have already begun making their trips more than a week ahead of the actual holiday, filling bus terminals early either to avoid the peak rush or simply to secure seats before tickets sell out.
The early exodus reflects the importance Filipinos place on honoring their departed loved ones, with families making the journey home well in advance of November 1 and 2. Authorities have advised the public to plan their travel schedules, check terminal advisories, and allow extra time for trips as roads and transport hubs become increasingly crowded in the coming days.
