A JOINT operation by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Bureau of Immigration (BI) on June 25, 2025, led to the arrest of nine Korean nationals in a Paranaque City condominium for suspected involvement in online fraud schemes.
Acting on a mission order, operatives from the NBI-Organized and Transnational Crimes Division (NBI-OTCD) and the Bureau of Immigration-Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) discovered the individuals operating multiple computer workstations displaying foreign-language scripts and interfaces commonly associated with financial transactions and online communication platforms.
The configuration of the systems and their real-time activity strongly suggested involvement in online loan fraud. The arrested individuals were identified as Han Jaeseong, Lee Hyunwoo, Kwon Yeon Ji, Park Kwangjun, Kim Hee Jun, Jeong Seongae, Bae Sehwang, Ryu Juhsang, and Kim Youngseop.
The suspects are currently under temporary detention at the NBI-OTCD office. After standard booking procedures, they will be transferred to the Bureau of Immigration Warden Facility (BIWF) for safekeeping. Inquest proceedings are underway, conducted by the Bureau of Immigration (BI), for violations of the Philippine Immigration Act (PIA) of 1940, as amended.
