FORMER president Rodrigo Duterte remains hospitalized at the Hague Penitentiary Institution, according to Vice President Sara Duterte.
“He’s not being released by the doctor,” Sara said when asked if Duterte needed to go to the clinic from his detention room for regular health monitoring.
VP Sara added that ICC doctors have received her father’s medication list and medical records.
After visiting him, Sara said her father is “comfortable” despite the cold climate.
According to VP Sara, her father said he feels like he’s in a hotel, “except I can’t go out.” Sara added that her father is “charming” inside and has built a good relationship with the staff.
He has no direct interaction with other detainees as each one has their own room, VP Sara added. Only Sara, former Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, and lawyer Nicholas Kaufman have been allowed to visit him.
Duterte reportedly said he has no regrets about his service to the country and jokingly mentioned that since he has nothing to do outside, it’s better to stay inside for now.
“He said he has nothing to do outside because he’s not mayor yet. So, he might as well stay inside for now,” VP Sara added.
