THE Philippine government has raised the alert level for both Israel and Iran to Alert Level 3 (voluntary repatriation), effective immediately, in response to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
This decision, announced by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday, strongly discourages Filipinos from traveling to either country.
The DFA statement urges all overseas Filipinos currently in Israel and Iran to return to the Philippines, citing the ongoing crisis and the closure of airspace and seaports in both nations as significant safety concerns.
The DFA emphasized that these Alert Level 3 advisories are subject to periodic review, contingent upon the evolving situation on the ground.
While expressing hope for a swift cessation of hostilities, the government is taking proactive steps to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad. Filipinos in Israel and Iran who wish to avail themselves of government-assisted voluntary repatriation are advised to contact the respective Philippine embassies for assistance.
The Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel, can be reached through their 24/7 hotline at +972 54 466 1188 or via email at telaviv.pe@dfa.gov.ph.
Similarly, the Philippine Embassy in Tehran, Iran, can be contacted through their 24/7 hotline at +989 12 213 6801 or via email at tehran.pe@dfa.gov.ph. The government’s swift action underscores its commitment to protecting its citizens and providing support during times of international crisis.
The ongoing situation highlights the importance of staying informed about travel advisories and taking necessary precautions when traveling to regions experiencing political instability.
