Cebu City, Philippines – In the midst of Typhoon Tino’s fury and the resulting floods that ravaged Cebu, a local basketball player has emerged as a beacon of hope and a true hero.
Jr. Quiñahan, known for his prowess on the court, has earned the admiration of netizens and the community for his selfless acts of bravery in rescuing his neighbors from the rising floodwaters.
After ensuring the safety of his own family, Quiñahan immediately turned his attention to those around him, prioritizing their lives over material possessions. With floodwaters raging, he fearlessly navigated the treacherous currents to reach those most in need.
“The water was flowing so strongly, but I said to myself, ‘Whatever happens, happens.’ I couldn’t let my neighbors, especially those without a second floor in their homes, be in danger,” Quiñahan recounted. “When I saw a floating drum, I grabbed it and used it to ferry some of the people we rescued. We pulled them along to safety.”
Quiñahan’s humility shines through as he explains his actions: “I told myself, with my size, if I don’t use it to save lives, I’ll regret it for the rest of my life. Why would I prioritize our belongings when they can easily be replaced? The lives of others were what we focused on saving.”
Jr. Quiñahan’s courage and compassion serve as an inspiration to us all. His willingness to put others before himself in the face of danger exemplifies the true spirit of heroism. We salute you, Jr. Quiñahan, and thank you for your bravery. May your example inspire others to show kindness and concern for their fellow human beings.
