A FORMER Miss Philippines-Earth 2013 runner-up, now a 32-year-old teacher, was shot dead in Barangay Cabaritan, San Manuel, Isabela, on Friday evening, February 13, according to police reports.
The victim was identified as Lullete Jane Ramilo-De Guzman, who was shot by an unidentified assailant while inside a Toyota Fortuner with her father and children in front of their house in Barangay Cabaritan around 6 p.m.
According to San Manuel Police Station chief Maj. Rogelio Natividad, De Guzman sustained gunshot wounds to the face and side. She was rushed to Manuel Roxas District Hospital in Roxas town, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
The investigation revealed that the victim was inside the vehicle with her children when her father got out to open the gate. A gunman on a motorcycle then approached and opened fire. The three children were unharmed but were severely traumatized after witnessing the shooting. The assailant quickly fled the scene on his motorcycle, which had no license plate.
Ramilo-De Guzman was a former Miss San Manuel and a runner-up in Miss Philippines-Earth 2013, where she also received minor awards for Miss Global International and Miss Genuine Person. Police are still investigating the motive behind the crime and have launched a manhunt operation against the perpetrator.
