Pinas posibleng mag-angkat ng sibuyas sa kakulangan ng supply

POSIBLE umanong mag-angkat ang bansa ng mga sibuyas upang matugunan ang pangangailangan ng merkado sa harap ng hindi mapigilang pagtaas ng presyo ng sibuyas.

Sa panayam kay Department of Agriculture (DA) spokesperson Rex Estoperez, inamin nito na mayroong suppy ng pulang sibuyas kung saan 5,000 metric tonnes na lamang ang maiha-harvest sa susunod ng buwan.

“Maliit kasi ang ating imbentaryo sa pula. Naghihintay tayo sana ng harvest pero ang peak season pa niyan [ay] sa February. Sa ngayon, mga 13,000 [metric tonnes] ang ine-expect natin by December, pero kokonti pa rin ‘yun,” sabi ni Estoperez.

Nauna na ring sinabi ni DA Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Kristine Evangelista na ilang seller na ang nagbebenta ng hanggang P300 kada kilo.

Magkakaroon na rin umano ang DA ng consultation sa una at ikalawang linggo ng Disyembre upang matugunan ang problema. Aalamin din ang imbentaryo sa mga cold storage facilities.

Sa harap nito, sinabi ni Estoperez na walang problemang nakaamba sa supply ng karne ng baboy, manok at isda.

“Wala namng problema sa mga ito (supply) at sapat sa darating na Kapaskuhan,” sabi pa ni Estoperez.
