THE The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) has publicly denied allegations that it is sheltering embattled Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, describing such reports as unsubstantiated speculation.
In a statement released Sunday through the office of Chairman Muslimin Sema, the group clarified that it has no formal relationship with the senator and that any perceived connection stems solely from the long‑standing friendship between MNLF founder Nur Misuari and former President Rodrigo Duterte. “The claim that the MNLF may be protecting him is speculation, not a confirmed fact,” the organization emphasized.
While acknowledging that dela Rosa has personal and political links to individuals associated with the MNLF — largely through Duterte’s close ties to Misuari — the group stated there is no verified evidence that dela Rosa is a member, an operational ally, or currently under the group’s protection.
It also noted that the organization remains fragmented, and it remains uncertain whether any faction — including the one led by Misuari — would or could intervene to shield him from authorities. The clarification comes amid heightened concerns over dela Rosa’s whereabouts and the nature of support he may be receiving in Mindanao.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government has placed a ₱50‑million bounty on dela Rosa, whom Interior Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla has described as “armed and dangerous.”
Authorities have warned that any operation to apprehend him carries the risk of violence, and the PNP has confirmed that no surrender feelers have been received. As the manhunt continues, the MNLF’s statement underscores the complexity of tracing the senator’s movements and identifying the actual groups involved, with officials urging the public to rely only on verified information from law enforcement sources.
