THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has assured the public that prices of monitored Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities (BNPCs) will stay steady with no increases permitted until December 31, 2026, and that supplies of these essential items remain sufficient nationwide.
Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina A. Roque issued the guarantee in response to growing concerns over potential price and supply disruptions linked to the El Niño weather phenomenon. “There will be no price increase for basic necessities and prime commodities under DTI supervision until the end of this year. Manufacturers and retailers have confirmed enough supply, so there is no need for panic buying or hoarding,” Roque stated.
The price freeze applies to the 190 products listed in the official Suggested Retail Price (SRP) bulletin, which serves as the standard reference for both retailers and consumers. To ensure transparency, the updated SRP list is posted in supermarkets and groceries across the country, and is also accessible through the DTI website and official social media pages. The agency clarified that the commitment specifically covers items formally included in the BNPC monitoring bulletin, encompassing essential food and non‑food goods.
The DTI added it is maintaining close coordination with manufacturers and distributors to monitor stock levels, ensure consistent deliveries, and keep prices stable. Consumers are advised to refer to the official list when making purchases, and to report any price violations or supply concerns through the DTI hotline at 1‑384, or via email at consumercare@dti.gov.ph and ReporttoSec@dti.gov.ph.
