MOTORISTS should prepare for another increase in diesel prices next week, while gasoline rates are expected to go down, according to industry projections.
Based on trading movements at the Mean of Platts Singapore and the average peso‑dollar exchange rate over the past four days, an oil industry source estimates diesel will go up by ₱1.50 to ₱2.50 per liter, while gasoline will decrease by ₱1.00 to ₱1.50 per liter. These projected changes do not yet include adjustments for weekly freight charges, which may affect final figures.
The scheduled price adjustment will take effect on Tuesday, following the official announcement from local oil companies. This comes after the previous week’s update on October 20, when gasoline dropped by as much as ₱4.00 per liter while diesel climbed by more than ₱2.00 per liter. The opposing trends reflect differing movements in global refined fuel markets, with diesel showing sustained upward pressure.
Consumers are advised to monitor the official notices from petroleum retailers for the exact rates applicable in their areas. Transport groups and commuters may see fare adjustments if the diesel increase takes full effect, particularly affecting public utility vehicles and delivery services that rely heavily on the fuel.
