MOTORISTS will see mixed fuel price adjustments taking effect from October 27 to November 2, the Department of Energy announced Monday.
Energy Secretary Sharon Garin confirmed the latest rates: gasoline will decrease by ₱0.30 per liter, while diesel will rise by ₱1.20 per liter and kerosene will increase by ₱0.50 per liter. The figures were reported by Super Radyo dzBB’s Mao dela Cruz.
This follows a similar mixed trend in the previous week, where gasoline and kerosene went down but diesel posted an increase. The consecutive rise in diesel prices is expected to have a broader impact on transport and food delivery costs, as the fuel powers most public utility vehicles, freight trucks, and delivery fleets across the country. Commuter groups and transport operators are monitoring the adjustments closely, with some signaling potential fare review petitions if the upward trend continues.
The DOE attributes the price shifts to global market movements, including fluctuations in crude oil costs and refining margins, as well as the peso’s performance against the US dollar. Motorists and businesses are advised to plan fuel purchases accordingly, with the official price changes taking effect at participating stations by Tuesday morning. Further adjustments will be announced next week based on international trading trends.
