THE House of Representatives on Wednesday evening ended plenary deliberations on the P300.96-billion proposed 2027 budget of the Department of Transportation (DoTR) and its attached agencies and corporations to support the establishment of mass transport systems.
Northern Samar Rep. Edwin Ongchuan, who co-sponsored the budget alongside Quezon Rep. Reynante Arrogancia, stressed that transportation is not just merely about infrastructure but it also affects the time, opportunity and dignity of the Filipino people who spend hours in traffic or in long lines at transport terminals just to get to work, school and back home.
“Supporting this budget therefore means supporting mobility, productivity and inclusive development for every Filipino, as it is an investment not only in steel, concrete, and runways but the future of our nation,” he said.
According to the lawmaker, the proposed budget would not only seek to interconnect communities across the nation, but also address issues of safety and congestion during commutes.
The House also concluded interpellations on the proposed P4.04-billion budget of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), and 148.63-million budget of the Career Executive Service Board (CESB) which will support operations of human resource governance, professionalization, workplace cooperation and administrative justice.
Quezon Rep. Jose “Bong” Teves Jr, who sponsored the budget on the plenary floor underscored the important mandate of the CSC as the central human resource agency of the government that ensures that each appointment in public service is guided by integrity, professionalism, efficiency, responsiveness and accountability.
Under the proposed P4.04-billion budget is the modernization of the Philippine Civil Service system, as it aims to digitize the human resource system, personnel records and payroll mechanism while the P148.63 million allotment for the CESB is earmarked for the continuous development and maintenance of competent career executive service
