AVENIR LNG, a multinational London-based company, together with an Australian firm, is bent on investing Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) and not LPG as earlier reported, in the country.
Led by Sean Hughes, chairman of Avenir LNG and Daniel de Gamboa also of Avenir LNG, the British investors who went all the way to National Power Corp. main office recently and discussed their business proposal to NAPOCOR president and DOE Undersecretary Donato Carlos.
Accompanied by their local partners Vinton Visitacion, Executive vice president and COO of Envirotech Energy; Director Ryan Hernandez and Deo Dato, Jun Carpio, president; all of Envirotech Energy; ret. Gen. Mario dela Vega and Atty Earl Charles Villarin, Chief legal and compliance officer of Australian-based Edge Prime, the group told DOE Undersecretary and Napocor president Marcos, that they are proposing to set up LNG plant in Palawan, Zamboanga and other areas in the Philippines.
For his part, Marcos assured the British investors that he was willing to support and assist them in putting up their business in the country.
The group told Marcos that their business is a long term energy solutions by Envirotech Energy, EPE and Avenir LNG to augment the rapidly increasing electricity prices and the increasing energy demands especially in the underserved areas in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
The partnership of Avenir LNG, Envirotech Energy (Philippines) and Edge Prime Energy (Australia) aims to build new LNG power plants, the conversion of existing fossil fuel power plants and the introduction of viable pocket energy systems for industries and small communities in the islands under flexible financial schemes.
LNG is the best alternative energy source for the Philippines, the group said. It’s clean, dependable, safe and cheaper than fossil-based fuels.
