Pump prices set to surge: Diesel up to P4.50, gasoline up ₱6.00

Metrosundaily September 12, 2026

DRIVEN by a weak peso and Middle East instability, another round of significant fuel price increases awaits motorists next week.

Industry projections indicate that for the week of September 14, diesel could rise by ₱4.00 to ₱4.50 per liter, while gasoline is forecast to jump by ₱5.50 to ₱6.00 per liter. These estimated increases are based on a full‑week tracking of the Mean of Platts Singapore (MOPS) for refined products, foreign exchange averages, and other market factors.

The anticipated surge comes on the heels of already painful increases implemented just this week, which saw gasoline rise by as much as ₱4.70 per liter, diesel by up to ₱5.20 per liter, and kerosene climb by ₱5.60 per liter. Consumers and transport groups are facing compounded cost pressures as fuel costs mount rapidly, with the peso’s record lows against the US dollar amplifying the price of imported crude and refined petroleum products.

The twin pressures of a weakening currency and heightened geopolitical risks in major oil‑producing regions continue to push fuel costs upward. Unless global oil prices ease or the peso recovers significantly, further adjustments may be inevitable in the coming weeks. Motorists and transport operators are advised to prepare budgets accordingly ahead of the official price rollout scheduled for Tuesday, September 15.
